Commission Work

Most recently, Dee has been asked to create a number of special dogs for their owners. Her ability to capture the personalities of these dear companions has brought tears to many eyes. If you'd like a bronze sculpture of your pet talk to Dee. You can Email her at: dee.doige@xplornet.com or see the Contact Us page.

Bronze Sculpture Art

Every individual sculpture goes through an extensive process. Each finished bronze is a culmination of many months of work. The process for creating these works of art can been seen on the Lost Wax Process page.

Acrobat * edition 15 * $475.00

I often wonder how these young foals manage to reach their noses with their hind feet, without landing upside down in the grass. Perhaps they really are acrobats!

Country Cathedral * edition 10 * $2500.00

Can you imagine a better place for reflections than out in God's domain with a good horse and a faithful dog?

The two items above, Country Cathedral and Acrobat,
are NEW additions to this page on February 12th, 2007

High Society * edition 5 * $7500.00

The agile Mountain Goats of the Rocky Mountains provide lots of entertainment as their family groups of sometimes dozens leap and play on their precarious habitat. This sculpture has a turntable built into the base so they can be seen from all sides.

The Boss * edition 5 * $1400.00

This piece was a commission to capture the essence of the respect showed by the sometimes larger dog to his older, wiser and respected companion. The two dogs in this piece are pets in the same family.

Double Trouble * edition 10 * $1300.00

Two Cocker pups never let well enough alone. They are constantly playing and wrestling with one another. This piece can be cast and the patina can be done to your taste.

Caught Red Pawed * edition 16 * $800.00

The soulful eyes and "Who Me?" expression of this hound pup will steal your heart away. He has been caught with the master's boot and begs forgiveness. Who could scold him? Not me!

Nap Time * edition 18 * $900.00

This peaceful scene of the mother polar bear and her sleeping cub makes you want to forget how large and powerful they really are. Even the greatest of creatures have a loving bond with their young.

Here Comes Trouble * edition 16 * $1200.00

Here we have two young donkeys. One can't get a sleep in without the other one coming to hassle and try to start a game. Youngsters of any kind are all the same.

You Go Girl * edition 15 * $1650.00

As the barrel racer rounds the final barrel and heads for home, both she and her horse are concentrating on leaving the barrels standing. The cheering section cheers them on with "You Go Girl".

Learnin' the Lopes * edition 15 * $475.00

As the summer of the baby moves on, the young foals are seen playing in the fields practicing the moves that they will use all their lives. Here a youngster is "Learnin' the Lopes".

Spilt Milk * edition 16 * $475.00

Baby calves sometimes need to be pail fed. Table manners are not high on the list. Help from the barn cat usually leads to dumped buckets and "Spilt Milk".

Full Circle * edition 5 * $3000.00

In the fall of the year, when all the wildlife are in their prime, the magnificent Bull Moose approaches a cow and her calf, born during the spring. Future generations will be ensured as nature comes "Full Circle".

I am the Greatest * edition 10 * $1200.00

Every new foal ever born wants to romp around the fields, with Mom following close behind. His thoughts are "I Am The Greatest".

A Step Ahead * edition 20 * $1700.00

This piece was first displayed at the Spruce Meadows "Masters". The feature Special Demonstration that year was Dressage. Spruce Meadows brought World Champion Anke Van Grusnven and her horses from Holland to demonstrate the beauty of Dressage. This sculpture was created to honor this Olympic Discipline.

Bottoms Up * edition 35 * $275.00

Bottoms Up is a humorous look at the new foals as they try for the first few times to get to their feet. This baby mule is having quite the time making the front catch up to the back.

Git * edition 10 * $2800.00

How many times does the Rancher see this scene? A simple job of moving a cow and her new calf from one place to another, gives the good old farm dog and opportunity to test his herding skills. And of course the calf would not be caught following politely. There is always a reason for a buck and a kick here and there.

Well Hello There * edition 50 * $725.00

There is nothing sweeter than a new foal. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to visit with them when they are really new, have no doubt used the gentle words "Well Hello There".

Preg Testing Time * edition 5 * $1800.00

This is a commission sculpture, created as a surprise gift for a retiring Veterinarian, also a friend. This man did a large portion of the cattle doctoring for the world renowned Douglas Lake Cattle Company in central British Columbia. The fall was "Preg Testing Time" and thousands of cows are checked at this time to see if they are still carrying a calf.

Ready * edition 20 * $375.00

When it comes time to get to work, who is more "Ready" than a well trained stock dog. He is not fussy what the Boss needs to move, he will give the job his best effort. A good cattle dog can be a better help than several men.

Sit Down Strike * edition 15 * $650.00

What a predicament this young mule baby is in. First of all there is this "thing" on his face, and then it is attached to a rope..........and then..........The ever helpful dog gets into the act. Small wonder little "Muley" is on a Sit Down Strike.

Top Hand * edition 25 * $1500.00

Before there are "Real" cowboys, there are "Little Cowboys" trying to be just like Dad. They put on those oversized boots of Dad's or a big brother's, and get their own rope and head out. Helped by the ever present farm dog, they are convinced that they are truly the "Top Hand."

Whoa Darlin' * edition 15 * $2500.00

If I had a dollar for every time I have heard the farrier say "Who Darlin'" as he works on the feet of a horse, I would be a rich lady. I have met a great number of farriers over the years, and every one of them has used this gently expression. This sculpture was commissioned for a farrier by his wife.

Little Stinkers * edition 50 * $900.00

This is a true story!! Several springs ago, in a pasture south west of Calgary, there were several brand new foals and their mothers in a pasture. Through the pasture, came a mother skunk and her two kits. Hmmmmm. One of the foals, being a little more curious than the others ventured to see what form of critter these striped guys were. Just as curious was one of the little kits. Before you know it, the curious foal and the equally curious kit were far from their mothers. The kit turned it's bottom to the foal and lifted it's tail and squared off with the foal. Not to be outdone, the foal turned to the kit in the same manner. Soon there was a duel of raised tails. This soon became too much for the mother skunk, who scuttled back, grabbed the kit by the scruff of the neck and packed it off to safety.

A Pony Today - the World Tomorrow * edition 25 * $1100.00

I wonder how many of our Elite show jumpers started out just like this little person, on a somewhat fat but very talented pony, before moving up to a "big" horse? Makes you wonder doesn't it?

Wishful Thinking * edition 50 * $750.00

Seen at a picnic a while back, a young girl had her beans and bannock all to herself...or so she thought. The skinny dog had thoughts of his own. Would she share ? What do you think?

The Blonde Leading the Blonde * edition 20 * $1300.00

My daughter and son-in-law have a Golden Retriever who thinks that it is his special duty to "help" around the ranch. A favorite job is to lead the horses. The first one to be escorted by him was a Palomino Stallion.

Staying Sharp * edition 30 * $1100.00

Every roper that I have ever met has a bale out back somewhere with a set of "horns" stuck in it. From the little guys just starting out to the Pros a few minutes with the bale helps them to stay sharp.

Cowboy Culture * edition 10 * $1800.00

When the long day was done and the cattle and horses were bedded down for the night, there was a little time before bed or a turn riding night herd, for some music and song around the campfire. Many of our old familiar tunes have been handed down over the years, and are now occasionally performed around the fire or most often revived at many of the "Cowboy" gatherings that have been held in recent years. This was created to honor those musicians and singers who have contributed to our "Cowboy Culture."

Just Between Friends * edition 10 * $1900.00

A conversation between friends, perhaps a young man and an older relative or close family friend... Who knows what wisdom, stories or humor is shared during these special moments that are often treasured for a lifetime?

SOLD OUT     Itchy Scratchy * edition 15 * $375.00     SOLD OUT

Oh the grace and balance of the new foal as it tries to remain standing as it attempts to get that itch. Many a time I have observed this particular maneuver become a scramble as the youngster loses balance and hits the ground. Seems successful so far.

Yotee Yammer * edition 18 * $375.00

Have you ever listened to the coyotes yip and yap as they "sing" in the early evening hours? Particularly entertaining is the yammer of the pups as they practice their new found singing talents.

Retriever * edition 40 * $450.00

The Golden Retriever is one of America's favorite dogs. A great companion and often serving as guide dogs for the handicapped, this Golden is ready and eager to serve, or to enjoy a day in the outdoors, or to simply be loved and to love back.

Picture Perfect * edition 18 * $375.00

There is nothing more beautiful than a new foal, resting in the lush Spring grass. Each and every one of them is "Picture Perfect."

Getting to Know You * edition 16 * $375.00

Every time a new member of the family is added, whether it is a new puppy, a new kitten or even a new baby, there is always the ritual of " Getting to Know You". Here a younger, but much larger Retriever puppy is greeted by the older, wiser Mini Dachshund.

On the Lookout * edition 18 * $475.00

Two bobcat kittens are perfecting the job of observing their environment. Being new to the task, they are missing the obvious, and the wary rabbit is glad that they are not too good at being "On the Lookout".

Twin Pack * edition 12 * $975.00

A familiar scene in the springtime.
A cow with the bonus for the rancher.....a "Twin Pack".

Little Bunters * edition 12 * $975.00

Baby calves will dine wherever they can, and sometimes they sneak a snack at the neighbor's lunch table, or sometimes the family must share.

Tuckered Series - Lucy * edition 15 * $500.00

The first of a new Series - "Tuckered" Lucy the Dachshund

Thank You Lord Found Him * edition 15 * $1000.00

The Cowboss while checking the herd finds one missing. He looks and talks to God. His thanks to the Lord is expressed as he finds the lost one.

A Good Cut * edition 10 * $2000.00

The Sport of Cutting enchants everyone who enjoys the "Dance" performed between the horse and a cow "A Good Cut" makes it all possible.

Tuckered Series - Jethro * edition 15 * $500.00

Another "Tuckered" Jethro a Hound

Tuckered Series - Winnie * edition 15 * $500.00

Also "Tuckered" Winnie the Bulldog Pup

Tuckered Series - Monty * edition 15 * $500.00

Here is the cat of the crew. Monty was a very lively Barn Cat that lived with me for a number of years. His antics kept me constantly laughing. This member of the series can be colored any way you please. Make him your very own, or as a reminder of the best feline in the world...yours.

Tuckered Series - Wrinkles * edition 15 * $500.00

The young Shar Pei puppy is way too small for all the folds and extra skin that covers his body. He was the inspiration for the series. I saw a photo and just had to try to create him. The rest just followed along.

Tuckered Series - Jess * edition 15 * $500.00

Here we have the typical Lab or Lab cross. Seems like almost everyone has a fond memory of the dog they had as a kid. My first dog was a Lab cross and he gave his life for me. This is a tribute to him and another wonderful dog Jess, whose story would break your heart. This can also be colored to suit your taste.

Treasures * edition 8 * $1850.00

Far more precious than silver or gold
Is the everlasting love between young and old.
